weekend snapshots: a hike at wildhorse wind farm

Apologies for the late Weekend Snapshots post, it has been a busy week for me! Come to think of it, the weekend was even busier! The weather has been so mild and perfect for hiking. Miles found a wonderful hike just east of Seattle at Wild Horse Wind Farm, an absolutely gorgeous wind and solar farm that lets visitors hike around pretty much wherever they like. It was so nice to hike around with our super rad couch surfer friends and Miles' super rad sister, Alina. The entire property was so pretty but my favorite part was the wildflowers in full bloom everywhere. I was so stoked when we spotted cacti on some the rockier parts of the hike! Succulents and cacti are my absolute favorites! We also spent our weekend going to several (four!) SIFF movies, something Miles and I look forward to every year. Somehow I also managed to fit in a hair cut and some serious cat time with Frida and Franco. All in all, a great weekend! Ready for the next, is it Friday yet?! xoxo, whit.

etsy fridays: camp out

I have officially caught Seattle summer fever. I know it's still May. I know there are a few rainy days ahead before true Seattle summer begins. I don't care. It's sunny and hot outside right now so in my mind summer has arrived! And with summer comes camping season. Miles and I love to backpack and camp every chance we get. One of my favorite parts? You guessed it-the clothes. But not just the clothes, people! I'm not that shallow. I also love the cute accessories. :) This weather has got me itching for some new camp gear. Check out some of my awesome Etsy finds from the week. Are you as ready for summer camping as I am!? xoxo, whit.

weekend snapshots: sunshine + flowers + photos

What a wonderful Seattle sunny weekend! It got off to great start Friday night when Miles surprised me with flowers. Ranunculus are one of my favorites! I tend to get stressed out and overwhelmed easily ("No, Whitney, not you. You are so calm, cool and collected." -said all of you, my friends) so it was especially sweet of Miles to cheer me up when I was feeling a bit stressed that night. I'm sure you all heard, since it was basically worldwide headlining news...but it was hot and sunny in Seattle this weekend! By hot I mean mid to high 70's which is not really 'hot' by this Central Californian's standards, but gorgeous weather none the less. If it's the sunny in Seattle, yo' ass is outside. This particular idea was lost on my two little brothers, Ryne and Riley (R&R for short). They much prefer playing Wii than running around outside, so a little bit of force was necessary to get them outside when I babysat them on Saturday. The rest of my Saturday was spent hanging out with Miles in the U-District, downtown alleys and a parking lot on capitol hill while he took photos with his Holgaroid pinhole camera. He is quite talented, I must brag say. While we were in Pioneer square, I snapped a few photos myself of Smith Tower, an old fire escape and the photographer himself in action. Sunday was of course Cinco De Mayo which I don't normally celebrate but got to spend with two of my wonderful friends, Anna and Ronald, drinking mimosas and taking super rad photos! They are helping me with an upcoming project--more on that to come! All in all, a wonderful spring weekend in Seattle. Here's hoping this weather lasts! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, too! xoxo, whit

etsy fridays: come sail away, come sail away...

I love navy and white stripes. Like, really love. Like, hard. I own, just off the top of my head, at least seven nautical striped tops (man, I really feel like it's more than that though ) five of which are navy and white. Nautical is clean, crisp, classic and will never go out of style. Some shy away from the look, afraid it will come across too literally. You know-sailboats, anchors and such. Psshaw, I say to them! That's the fun part! Sure, there is a fine line. You want your look to be cute and subtle without going overboard (for lack of a better word). As you can see, I had a bit of a hard time narrowing down my Etsy favorites from the week. I found so many amazing nautical inspired pieces in vintage, handmade and even mens! It must be the gorgeous Seattle weather that has me ready to set sail. I hope you don't mind having to look through all of them! Have a wonderful weekend! xoxo, whit

etsy fridays: totes mcgotes

I am, believe it or not, a total bag lady. I'm pretty sure you all can believe it. Even though I am loyal to my Baggus, it don't matta. I love a good tote bag-- all day eeryday. I actually prefer canvas totes and happen to own several. I  found some amazing canvas and leather tote bags during my Etsy search this week and may just have to purchase one or two. Go figure. Summer is just around the corner, you can never have enough bags to carry your food + booze. Have a great weekend, everyone! xoxo, whit
