just a mini life change, no big deal...

You guys, my life right now. Things...things are happening. I make it a rule not to discuss work here on mmt, unless I am referencing the time spent online shopping/blogging when, I mean technically, I should be working. This blog was created as a sort of creative outlet for me, since my current job doesn't really allow for much creativity or opportunities to explore things I am passionate about. But I am breaking my "no work talk" rule here for a very important announcement-- after four years at CleanScapes I am leaving to pursue a career in fashion. Those of you who know me, this is huge. I am a lover/admirer of high end fashion but I have never worked in this arena. I am excited and a little bit terrified to leave my comfortable corner desk at a company that, although it has its flaws, has taught me everything I know about business, professionalism and management. It sounds cheesy I know, but I have really grown up here. I was hired right before I turned 23, now I am 27 and ready to jump head first into a completely different world. It feels weird, but also pretty freaking wonderful because I am finally getting the chance to do what I love.

So, anyways. The job! I am starting at the beautiful, amazing Totokaelo on September 9th and I couldn't be more excited! Despite being nervous and a bit scared, I am ready. This is an opportunity I never thought I would be lucky enough to have and I am super grateful this company is taking a chance on me! The idea of using the sentence "I love my job" is a bit foreign to me, but I have a feeling you will be hearing this more and more from me in the near and distant future. Please let me know if my constant talk of beautiful clothes, shoes and objects gets to be annoying. TRICK QUESTION. It's never annoying, it's always the best.

a special etsy fridays: introducing poppies & pines!

Hello friends! I wanted to let you all know about a new and exciting project I have been working on for several weeks. Introducing: Poppies & Pines Vintage! As you all know, I love clothes and vintage clothing in particular. It really is my dream to work in fashion so this is my way of dipping my toes in just a little bit. I'm not planning on launching a multimillion dollar business anytime soon, but starting my own little shop is what I have always wanted. So I thought Etsy would be the perfect place to start! I've really loved working on something creative involving fashion and styling along with really amazing and supportive friends. Speaking of which, I have to take a moment to thank my super awesome friends Anna, Loc, Ronald and of course, Miles. Loc is my bestie and a crazy talented graphic designer who designed my logo, which I absolutely love! Ronald and Anna both made the first P&P photo shoot possible- Anna was my beautiful model of course, and Ronald has been helping me with all of the photos! And of course, Miles has just been super supportive and has pushed me to do something I love even if it does start out small. With all this being said, I hope you can take the time out to visit my little shop here and there. I will keep you posted when new items come in and hopefully we can watch this little side project grow into something much bigger! Time for some tough love. Look- I love a good pair of jorts. But can we talk about this for a second? This is serious.WTF is going on with girls and their cut off denim shorts these days?!
