weekend snapshots: bill nye + bastille day

Apologies for the late weekend snapshots posts. My Mondays and Tuesdays have become increasingly busy during these summer months! This weekend was just as busy actually, but in a good way! Friday night was perfect for a baseball game. Miles and I met some friends at Safeco Field to watch the M's take on the Angels. I, like any other true Giants fan out there, HATE the Angels. So it's a good thing we beat them 8-3 ;) That wasn't the only highlight of the night, THEE Bill Nye threw out the opening pitch! The Science Guy! Um, celeb sighting much? Now, let's just skip right over my full day of babysitting Saturday and move right into Sunday--Bastille Day! I vowed to take it easy on Bastille Day this year since I'm still hungover from celebrating the holiday last year. But I did make it to the Second Annual C'est Magnifique Bastille Day Bike Ride put on by my good friends over at Hub and Bespoke. This year's ride was just as amazing and fun as the last but was made even better when Miles decided to join! Not to mention, we had perfect weather! weekend snapshots: summer birthdays

Hi all! Hope everyone had a happy and safe 4th! I was lucky enough to have the highly coveted, very precious four day weekend. It was a much needed mini vacation from my, lately, very hectic work life. Over the long weekend, I celebrated many important births: the birth of our great nation, the birth of one of my style/life icons Frida Kahlo and well, me. Natch.I celebrated hard y'all! I was super lucky one of my  besties, Britt, made her annual Independence Day weekend pilgrimage back to Seattle. I love getting to see her on my birthday! We watched the fireworks at our friend's condo on Capitol Hill with a great view! On the 5th, (my actual birthday) Miles and I went to the wedding of two of our beautiful friends, Emily and Kim. It was RAD. We got to dance, yell Mozel Tov!, and the ridiculously talented Seattle Rock Orchestra put on a private mini concert. Amazing. So happy for those two. Other highlights of the weekend included bike rides, lots of reading in Volunteer Park, a (free!) trip to the Seattle Asian Art Museum, bahn mi sandwiches, dinner at Serious Pie and a birthday party in the park with all of my friends and family! It was so much fun to have a bunch of my friends in the same place at the same time. We had a BBQ, drank beers, played catch and basically just had the best time. Am a lucky girl, or what? a special etsy fridays: introducing poppies & pines!

Hello friends! I wanted to let you all know about a new and exciting project I have been working on for several weeks. Introducing: Poppies & Pines Vintage! As you all know, I love clothes and vintage clothing in particular. It really is my dream to work in fashion so this is my way of dipping my toes in just a little bit. I'm not planning on launching a multimillion dollar business anytime soon, but starting my own little shop is what I have always wanted. So I thought Etsy would be the perfect place to start! I've really loved working on something creative involving fashion and styling along with really amazing and supportive friends. Speaking of which, I have to take a moment to thank my super awesome friends Anna, Loc, Ronald and of course, Miles. Loc is my bestie and a crazy talented graphic designer who designed my logo, which I absolutely love! Ronald and Anna both made the first P&P photo shoot possible- Anna was my beautiful model of course, and Ronald has been helping me with all of the photos! And of course, Miles has just been super supportive and has pushed me to do something I love even if it does start out small. With all this being said, I hope you can take the time out to visit my little shop here and there. I will keep you posted when new items come in and hopefully we can watch this little side project grow into something much bigger! weekend snapshots: sunshine + flowers + photos

What a wonderful Seattle sunny weekend! It got off to great start Friday night when Miles surprised me with flowers. Ranunculus are one of my favorites! I tend to get stressed out and overwhelmed easily ("No, Whitney, not you. You are so calm, cool and collected." -said all of you, my friends) so it was especially sweet of Miles to cheer me up when I was feeling a bit stressed that night. I'm sure you all heard, since it was basically worldwide headlining news...but it was hot and sunny in Seattle this weekend! By hot I mean mid to high 70's which is not really 'hot' by this Central Californian's standards, but gorgeous weather none the less. If it's the sunny in Seattle, yo' ass is outside. This particular idea was lost on my two little brothers, Ryne and Riley (R&R for short). They much prefer playing Wii than running around outside, so a little bit of force was necessary to get them outside when I babysat them on Saturday. The rest of my Saturday was spent hanging out with Miles in the U-District, downtown alleys and a parking lot on capitol hill while he took photos with his Holgaroid pinhole camera. He is quite talented, I must brag say. While we were in Pioneer square, I snapped a few photos myself of Smith Tower, an old fire escape and the photographer himself in action. Sunday was of course Cinco De Mayo which I don't normally celebrate but got to spend with two of my wonderful friends, Anna and Ronald, drinking mimosas and taking super rad photos! They are helping me with an upcoming project--more on that to come! All in all, a wonderful spring weekend in Seattle. Here's hoping this weather lasts!
