getting away: cape disappointment
A few weekends back, my friends and I took a short trip to Cape Disappointment State Park located in the very southwest corner of Washington State. Spoiler alert...it was absolutely gorgeous! The Pacific Northwest is so beautiful it kills me sometimes. Luckily not really though, so I got to spend the weekend hiking around to beautiful beaches and checking out super old, super haunted light houses. We stayed in a yurt (since March in the PNW means freezing rain + tank top weather + freezing rain again) and didn't even bother pitching tents. Totes worth it, since a yurt that sleeps 5 is much easier for drinking and card games. I highly recommend the trip! See for yourself and check out the photos below! xoxo, whit

getting away: doe bay resort, orcas island
A few weeks ago, Miles and I took a wonderful little weekend trip with our friends William and Brittany to Orcas Island in the San Juans. We went to Doe Bay Fest last summer and had the most amazing time (see some really great photos from the festival here!), we had to make the journey to Doe Bay Resort to purchase tickets for this year's festival. It was a bit strange being at Doe Bay without mass amounts of music lovers and festival goers, but refreshing at the same time. We lucked out with beautiful weather Friday afternoon and got to the resort in time to catch a ridiculously gorgeous sunset. We had rainy weather for the rest of our trip but made the best of it with delicious meals at Doe Bay Cafe, yoga classes, reading and plenty of time in the resort's hot tubs! This was only my second time visiting Orcas Island, and I hope to make it to the rest of the San Juan Islands sometime very soon. It really is magical out there, the scenery is like something out of a storybook.
Here are a few photos from the ferry ride over and our time at the resort. Enjoy! -whit

weekend snapshots: a visit from jforjamie
This weekend went by in a flash! But I guess they always do when you are having just like, the best time ever with a really awesome friend. One of my dearest and oldest friends, Jamie finally made her way up from SF to the great Northwest to visit me! We have been close friends since our high school days and are basically the same person with similar tastes and interests (our bearded boyfriends look eerily similar). I haven't seen her in at least a year and was so happy to show her my super rad city and to hear all about her wedding plans! She is adorable and talented and halarious and we had so much fun together! We walked around my neighborhood and explored the best Seattle has to offer including farmers markets, cute cafes and of course Target! Check out some photos from our visit to the Volunteer Park Conservatory, Oddfellows and exploring my 'hood Capitol Hill! Hope you all had a rad weekend too! xoxo, whit.
It took Jamie zero seconds to strike this pose. Pro.
Beautiful colors at Totokaelo
Jamsquas ♥'s 'fellies too!
Me and the homie Loc in our freshy Prabal Gurung for Target gear. 7:00AM trip to Target, totally worth it!

weekend snapshots: bastille day bike ride! c'est magnifique!
I love me some Bastille Day. Wine hangovers aside, I always have so much fun and this last Saturday was no exception. What's not to love? It's a celebration of some of my favorite things: cheese, bread, wine, funny accents...all great things! So when the wonderful folks over at Hub and Bespoke announced they were hosting a Bastille Day bike ride in Seattle, I thought "this is another great thing!" We had a wonderful ride starting at Melrose Market on Capitol Hill for some cheese at The Calf and Kid, headed to Eastlake to pickup some wine and then stopped by Essential Baking for les baguettes! We ended our ride with a picnic in Gassworks Park right on the water. Le sigh....another perfect Seattle Saturday with wonderful people. Check out some snapshots from the ride and check out the Hub and Bespoke blog for more photos. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! xoxo, whit

I felt particularly lucky to have such a wonderful birthday with my family and friends this weekend, and the sunshine just made it that much better. bookin it: is everyone hanging out without me? (and other concerns)
I read this book a while ago (it was a Christmas gift), so my apologies for the late post! I finished the book in two days, you guys! I would have finished it in a matter of hours had it not been for silly distractions like going to work and sleeping. Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? was absolutely hilarious and makes me love the already super adorable Mindy Kaling even more. She finds the perfect balance between honesty and comedy while being completely relatable at the same time. If you have really hilarious, really cute girlfriends (I myself have several) then you will totally appreciate this book! If nothing else, just look at the back cover for the most hilariously adorable photo you will ever see of Kaling. I totally one thousand percent recommend this to anyone, guys and gals alike. Let me know if you want to borrow it! Enjoy! ♥xoxo♥ whit.
